The University of East Anglia (UEA) have a wide range of radioactive sources and related equipment. Every year, local schools come in to use our sources.
Advantages include:
Not needing to purchase sources and equipment.
Bringing students to a University.
Being able to use modern laboratories and equipment.
Someone else having done the risk assessment!
In previous years, we have run the following:
Radioactive decay using a Protactinium-234.
Properties of alpha, beta and gamma radiation.
Attenuation and shielding.
If there's anything which you want to do, get in touch!
I have a number of talks which I'm happy to come to local schools and give. These include:
Nuclear Energy: from Physics to Power
Materials for Flight
